Needed a little boost of motivation so I turned to kennyroy.com and started catching up on some lecture videos I’ve missed. This man is awesome. If you’re an animator/animation student, I highly suggest you go check out his website. Sign up for a free trial (referred by Hannahmation). I’ve learned so much from Kenny so far. He’s a great teacher. Definitely worth a membership on his site.
One of my former animation professors, Tom Schroeder, is ranked as a contender in the animated short film Oscar category!!

Look at that! A finished animation! That’s two nights worth of work you are looking at. Got overwhelmed with the other lip sync I was working on so I decided to take a step back. Kept it short and simple. Happy with how it turned out. Onward to the next piece!
There’s some animating going on. And some Wreck-It Ralph playing in the background.
I’ve had a harder time than usual starting actual animation on this shot and this article basically sums up why.
Friday I will be applying to meet up with Pixar in Chicago at the end of the month.
Demo Reel Update. One. Two. Three. GO!

Just got a call saying I don’t need to come into work today! That means I have a day off from BOTH jobs!!
Also means I get to animate alllllll day with no interruptions! I have two weeks to finish this 5 second lip sync. Goal is to get it done, update my reel, and submit it for a chance to meet up with Pixar in Chicago at the end of March.
Start playing sound clip:

This is awesome! Let’s plan this animation! WOOOOOO!
10 minutes later:

I am one with the sound clip. Let’s act it out! WOO!
Half an hour later:

No. More. Just. Stop. Playing.
Operation Update Demo Reel is underway… again…
Goal is to get 2-3 new pieces done by the beginning of April (in time for a certain application deadline). I have 5 short shots I want to do and after prioritizing them, I decided to start with a lip sync. My reel is in need of one that isn’t from 3 years ago.
I have found the greatest sound clip to use for it. I’m super excited.
